When revising things in high school I was a little bit lazy and I did not know what to revise in depth and it was the same way in the beginning of the semester. I later realized that I was missing an entire area of revising that needed to be looked at. In the beginning I was using just local revising. Revising is not just saying you have a few grammar mistakes and spelling. It is taking pieces of your essay and cutting and moving them around to fit them where they are supposed to go. It can also be about searching for sentences that may not fit into that paragraph or completely getting rid of them. That was a big issue of mine. I tend to get off topic about what I should be talking about. I get a good idea of what to talk about and start going off about it then I realize it does not even fit into my paragraph. That was a bad habit of mine that I needed to change. I definitely have changed the way I have revised and have become much less lazy. While reviewing other people’s essays I have realized that there are a lot of things that I needed to work on that are small but could add up and help me when looking back at my revised essays from my peers. I need to also look at global revisions at the same time as local revisions which is what I am doing to this learning outcome also. They have showed me that I need to explain certain points better and introduce the main author better which I have struggled with due to me being lazy about the main author thinking I only need to introduce him/her if I talk about the person a lot which is not the case at all.
