Learning Outcome 4

When I started reviewing and revising peer’s essays I did not know quite what I was looking for in the moment. I just thought maybe I should just try to find things on the surface that needed to be tweaked like switch around  a sentence or change a word to make a sentence flow better. I soon realized that there is so much more room to help someone with their paper. For example trying to tell the person to expand on their ideas about an idea and add in another sentence that explains more in depth about what the person needs to talk about. Another is looking at the person’s thesis and trying to connect it with each body paragraph and connecting them together to make sure they fit. This also can help myself and looking at my own revisions and could apply the same things to my own essay. Peer reviews without a doubt help from learning from other people’s mistakes and seeing from their point of view, getting more ideas and applying the same revision process to my paper. By the third paper that we revised I had a far clearer idea of how revisions should be done and how in depth they should be. I should not just be talking about grammar issues and that what I tried to do in Kayla’s essay to the best of my ability.

In this example I tried to get deeper into what she is talking about and what the mean of the paragraph was. I also tried in the essay to try to understand what her main paints were in each paragraph to make sure she does not go off topic since I know that that can be an issue. Kayla did do a very good job creating this essay which created a challenge for me to find things that needed to be changed but I was up for the challenge to help her make it better than it already is.
